Dr. Carr’s Word Forage
You, too, can write a poem!™
The world’s first poetry board game—built for joy, play, and collective surprise.
Dr. Carr’s Word Forage is the world’s first poetry board game, guaranteed to jolt players into poetry they didn’t know they had inside them!
I host poetry board game nights for friends & family, for podcasts, at colleges & middle schools, for art walks & gallery openings, at breweries & energy ball companies.
Dr. Carr’s Word Forage is a collaborative, chance-based poetry game for four players, age 15 and up. No experience is required. In this game, there are winners, and there are “beginners”—but ultimately the objective is to tap into our collective creativity in a way that’s fun, accessible, meaningful and nourishing.
There are two versions: an X-rated, adults-only, wickedly hilarious version & a child-friendly, family-fun version.

Dr. Carr’s Word Forage is designed to introduce players to the magic and joy of language. This boardgame guides collaborators through the three phases of writing a poem—rough draft, workshop and revision—in 30 minutes or less.
Inspired by the beloved 1920’s Surrealist parlor game Exquisite Corpse, Dr. Carr’s Word Forage combines elements of unpredictability, chance, unseen intention and group collaboration to disrupt the rational mind’s penchant for order. The three phases of the game are designed to help collaborators experience the kinds of associative leaps poets make when thinking lyrically because thinking lyrically makes our minds more flexible, and our thoughts more agile.
